In case of a break in, John figured that nobody would ever look there. John had been using this pair of pants as a "piggybank" - he stuffed the pockets with his tip money all season long, folded them neatly, and put them in the middle of the dresser drawer. One of the pairs was a tan pair of moleskin slacks made by Orvis. He gave them to Dutt, since they didn't fit John any more. One day, John brought about six pairs of pants into the fly shop - size 32 waist. The look of shock on Andrew's face was so quickly replaced by love and joy for Caitlin and their adventure to come that it melted by heart.Īndrew was a very sharp dresser - especially when he worked as the fly shop manager for Deschutes Angler. Caitlin and I ordered margaritas and I overheard the bartender only charging Caitlin $3! What crazy insider trick does Caitlin know about?! When I asked, Caitlin took a quick look at Andrew and blurted out that they were expecting a baby (Henry!). We probably would have kicked Murphy out of our room after the first fart!Īnother lasting memory is when we all went to a new Mexican brewery in Salem. Andrew even apologized for eventually taking Murphy back to our house once they realized they couldn't sleep with him anymore. Murphy then proceeded to sleep in Andrew and Caitlin's room farting ALL night. We heard nothing from Andrew or Caitlin during the weekend and when we got home, Andrew sheepishly told us that Murphy had gotten into the container of treats and ate most of them. We left Murphy at our house with a big container of treats and some instructions on the kitchen table. One summer Caitlin and Andrew agreed to watch one of our dogs for us when we went on a camping trip. I'll always remember the kindness that he displayed to our two dogs. When we decided to leave Salem, Michael and I knew that Caitlin and Andrew would be some of the people we would miss the most.Īs many have already said, Andrew's kindness and enthusiasm are unmatched. We met at a brewery in Salem for the first time and it was a perfect friend date that bloomed into a friendship filled with neighborhood dog walks, outside chats, dinners, games, trivia, and other adventures. Mutual acquaintances introduced us after realizing that Andrew and Caitlin and myself and my partner, Michael, all had connections in Eugene at the UO and were all currently living in Salem (less than 2 blocks away!). Andrew and Caitlin were the best neighbors we'll probably ever find. I met Andrew as part of a unit - with Caitlin and the Dudes (followed by sweet Henry).
